As part of our goal to grow our YouTube channel, we want to start releasing the video versions of our interviews, starting with this interview we conducted with Charles Eisenstein in the spring of 2021.
In this interview, we discuss what Eisenstein terms “The Age of Separation”: its genesis and its impact on humanity, and by proxy, the Earth itself. We discuss the perennial concern of mortality, and we discuss the forces in our culture that aim to keep us separate from the natural world, unmoored in our ability to relate to the beings we share the planet with. We talk about the aliveness of Earth, and how our seemingly inevitable trajectory toward an over-reliance on reductionism and scientism has led to us treating the planet in a way that is creating an increasingly deranged biosphere. In the same vein, we discuss the problem with assuming that more reductionism and scientism will provide us with the solutions we need.
We hope you enjoy the video version of this old conversation which still has so much resonance today. The YouTube algorithm is fickle, so please give us a like and a subscribe if you have the chance — it really helps us out!
