Please enjoy this interview we conducted back in 2022 with Stephen Corry, founder and former CEO of Survival International, a human rights organization which fights for the rights of indigenous, tribal, and uncontacted people around the world. He is also the author of Tribal Peoples: For Tomorrow’s World and an all-around brilliant thinker.
In this interview we discuss the idea that "there is no one right way to live" (as per Daniel Quinn's work) and the importance of human diversity. We also discuss the ways in which many environmental organizations do more harm than good in the promotion of solutions that perpetuate harm against people, particularly people who have been stewarding landscapes for generations. We discuss the origins of our disconnection from life, and the threat that Western civilization poses on the rest of the world.
Thank you again for your support of Death in The Garden. We plan to continue posting the video versions of our old interviews to YouTube, and we have some wonderful new things in the works that we’re really excited about. We’ve been given the opportunity to travel to Ladakh, India for the Local Futures Planet Local Summit and will be doing a great deal of filming, learning, and communing while we’re there. We’ll have many videos and tales to share upon our return. Additionally, we recently recorded our first podcast episode with Alex Leff of Human Nature Odyssey discussing AI. We had such a great conversation, and we’re really excited to share these chats with our paid subscribers on a regular basis. That episode will be available for paid subscribers in the coming week or so, so stay tuned. Our next video, The World is a Factory Farm, will be out in the coming months, as well.
