To all of our new subscribers, welcome! While we work on editing and planning the next stints of production, we have some great Substack pieces in the works, in addition to some podcasts. As always, we thank you for your patience in getting short-form content released as we work on the long-form project. In the meantime, we thought it would be prudent to share some podcasts we have been on recently in case our new subscribers would like to get to know us a little better. Enjoy, and give these creators some love!
Mind, Body, and Soil with Kate Kavanaugh
Kate is an incredible force in the regenerative movement. She’s a butcher, farmer, nutritionist, writer, and the host of the amazing podcast Mind, Body, and Soil where she consistently conducts incredibly well-researched interviews, deep-diving into interesting territory with all of her guests. We were lucky enough to speak with her about death, grief and shame, and so much more in this podcast. We talk broadly about Death in The Garden, our process of being humans in the modern world, the importance of escaping misanthropist narratives, and our role as gardeners here on earth. It was an honor to be platformed by Kate and to have such a wonderful conversation with her.

Folkets Radio with Per Shapiro
Per Shapiro is a Swedish investigative journalist and writer who we had the pleasure of discussing many topics with, including delving deep into our responsibility as people today to parse out the meta-narratives and global structures which threaten our futures and the living world. We discuss how movements can be susceptible to greenwashing, and how this dangerous trend obfuscates the greater responsibility we all have to be active participants in creating new, resilient systems. We discuss the process of globalization and the mythologies that undergird our understanding of our place in the world, and the necessity of reorienting ourselves toward the contextual and local.

Peak Earth Podcast with Case Bradford
Case is a Primal Health Coach on a “mission to elevate our vitality.” His podcast, Peak Earth, explores health, fitness, and a holistic approach to reimagining the potential for humanity. He was an incredibly kind and generous host, allowing us to go into more spiritual and esoteric realms as we discussed our relationship with death and civilization. We talked about veganism and the deeply human connection to the processes of life and death.

Discussion in the comments?
What’s on your mind lately? What books are you reading, and what makes them important? Watch any good movies lately? Anything inspiring happening in your life? Any revelations, breakthroughs, or breakdowns? What would you like us to discuss in our next pieces/podcasts? Any guests you’d recommend?
Let’s have a conversation in the comments.
for that personal question:
i'm digging deep into Haida oral poetry and myth stories after reading bringhurst's tree of meaning. most recommended book to anyone vaguely interested in languages, poetry, art, literature and how the loss of languages echo the loss of connection with ecology and biodiversity. At one point he said that he sees the re-introduction of indigenous (land) languages in schools as the only solution to the violence happening in mexico and i was like BAM! i knew that and i finally see someone articulating the importance of that
for the guests:
i'd recommend nate hagens (from the great simplification film & podcast). He has a broad perspective that is also interesting to watch it being expanded by his interviews and i think he would be a great voice and addition to your guests & film project as i see there's a lot of commonalities in the vision of what the future might hold: food & energy wise. ie "if we don't drop the energy bonanza we will pretty much be forced to"
echoing that there's this movie called "strange worlds" in disney+, that's not super great, but it's a good analogy of what the focus on energy (green or black) is actually doing, due to our (spoiler!!) inability to see that is killing the living planet
didn't mean to go long but you asked
Love to hear you guys interview Lynx Vilden. She has a book that's just come out, so might be willing to talk about it.
I'm re-reading The Continuum Concept by Jean Liedloff, just finished (again) The Way of the Human Being by Calvin Luther Martin. Both books have great Spirit.
